Spider Rock Western Landscape
Spider Rock stands over 800 feet high in Canyon de Chelly National Park,
part of the Navajo lands in Arizona. It is made of red sandtone laid down
over 230 million years ago that has since been sculpted by wind and water
erosion. In Navajo lore, Spider Rock is home to Spider Woman who guides and
protects them, and it was she who gave them the weaving loom.
